Professor YANG Guowang is well-versed in the classics and applies classical prescriptions flexibly, emphasizing their use in the treatment of tumor complications. He believes that the treatment of tumors and their complications with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) cannot be separated from the principle of "combination of disease and syndrome", with the key in applying classical prescriptions being the "differentiation of disease and recognition of mechanisms". He summarizes that the fundamental pathogenesis of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) is abnormal ascending and descending of the spleen and stomach, along with upward movement of stomach qi, and applies classical prescriptions for the classification and treatment of CINV. Guided by the "three-differentiation integration", treatment should address both nourishing the spleen and harmonizing the stomach. Emphasis is placed on the use of "one formula" and "one medicine", observing the balance of therapeutic forces, adapting to changes, combining small formulas, and tailoring treatment flexibly, thereby providing clinical ideas for the differentiation and management of CINV with TCM.
