Objective To observe the sedative effect of Shang tones music of five tones for patients with mechanical ventilation.Methods 60 patients who were admitted to the ICU of our hospital from December 2016 to March 2019 were randomly divided into experimental group of 31 cases and control group of 29 cases.The control group was given with conventional sedation treatment,that is,sedative drug（midazolam）was used according to the doctor’s prescription,while the experimental group was also intervened with Shang tones music therapy on the basis of conventional sedation treatment.The research period was from 3 to 14 days.The research ended when the patient was pulled out of the endotracheal tube,or discharged from the hospital or transferred to another hospital,and dead.RASS scale for sedation was used to evaluate the sedative condition at 7∶00 and 17∶30 everyday.The dosage,duration,intubation time and extubation rate of sedatives were compared between the two groups.Results There was no statistical significance in RASS scale everyday between the two groups（P>0.05）.The dosage of sedatives used on day 7 in the observation group was less than that in the control group,the time of using sedatives was also less（P<0.05）,the intubation time was shorter,and the extubation rate was higher（P<0.05）.Conclusion The Shang tones music therapy can reduce the dosage and time of sedative drugs for the patients with mechanical ventilation,and can also shorten the intubation time and improve the extubation rate of these patients.
