Objective To observe the effect of medicinal pillow combined with auricular acupoint pressing in relieving perioperative anxiety and depression of patients with gastrointestinal malignancy.Methods 120 patients with anxiety and depression on admission,who would undergo surgery for gastrointestinal malignancy at appropriate time,were randomly divided into emotional care group,medicinal pillow group,auricular point pressing group,medicinal pillow combined with auricular point pressing group with 30 cases in each group.Emotional nursing group was given the emotional nursing measurements according to TCM nursing plan; the medicinal pillow group was treated with Chinese herbal medicine pillow on the basis of the treatment given to the emotional nursing group;the auricular point pressing group combined auricular point pressing treatment together with the treatment for the emotional care group;on the basis of the treatment for the emotional nursing group,the combination of TCM pillow and auricular point pressing therapy was added to the medicinal pillow combined with auricular point pressing group.Anxiety self-rating scale（SAS）and depression self-rating scale（SDS）were used to evaluate the effect of intervention on admission and when discharged from the hospital.Results The SAS scores and SDS scores of the four groups of patients when discharged were significantly lowered than those on admission,all the differences were statistically significant（P<0.01）.The SAS scores and SDS scores of patients in the medicinal pillow group and ear acupoint pressing group were lower than those in the emotional care group when discharged,and the differences were statistically significant（P<0.01）;there was no statistically significant difference in SAS scores between these two groups（P>0.05）;SDS scores of patients in the medicinal pillow group were lower than those in the auricular acupoint pressing group upon discharge,and the difference was statistically significant（P<0.05）;the SAS score and SDS score of the patients in the combination of medicine pillow and auricular point sticking pressure group were lower than those in the emotional care group,medicinal pillow group and auricular point pressing group when discharged,and the difference was statistically significant（P<0.05）.Conclusion The combination of medicinal pillow and auricular point pressing can effectively relieve the perioperative anxiety and depression of patients with gastrointestinal malignancy,and the effect is better than that of emotional nursing group,medicinal pillow group and auricular point pressing group.
