Effect of Foxiang Powder on gastric motility index of diabetic gastroparesis rats and its mechanism discussion
Objective To verify the efficacy and mechanism of Foxiang Powder in the treatment of diabetic gastroparesis based on animal model, and to provide new ideas for the treatment of diabetic gastroparesis. Methods After successful modeling, 50 diabetic gastro paresis SD rats were randomly divided into model group, western medicine group, and high, medium and low dose Chinese medicine groups with 10 rats each. The high, medium and low dose Chinese medicine groups were given Foxiang Powder liquid by gavage with the concentration of 27.5, 13.75, 6.875 g/(kg·d) respectively, and the western medicine group was given domperidone solution with 3.5 mg/(kg·d), the normal group and the model group were given an equal volume of normal saline by gavage all for 8 weeks. The differences in blood glucose, motilin, small intestine propulsion rate and stomach tissue pathological structure were compared among the groups. Results The blood glucose of the normal group was significantly lower than that of the western medicine group, the model group and all the Chinese medicine groups(P<0.05); compared with the model group, the small intestine propulsion rate of the Chinese medicine medium dose group and the western medicine group were increased(P<0.05); the level of motilin in the western medicine group and the medium dose group of Chinese medicine were increased significantly, and the increase of the motilin level was the most in the medium-dose group.Compared with the pathological structure of stomach tissue in the model group, it was observed under a light microscope that the number of neurons in the mesenteric plexus was increased, the circular muscles and longitudinal muscles were thickened, intercellular distance was broadened, the cytoplasm did not form vacuoles, and there was no telangiectasia in the medium dose group. Conclusion The fact that Foxiang Powder could promote gastric emptying in diabetic gastroparesis rats may be related to the increasing of serum motilin levels, improving of blood glucose metabolism disorders, reducing of the pathological damage to the gastric antrum in DGP rats, and reversing of the cytopathology of gastric tissue layer induced by streptozotocin in diabetic rats.
