Objective To observe the clinical effect of Yishen Jiangu Pill in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis of liver and kidney deficiency type. Methods 120 cases of knee osteoarthritis with liver and kidney deficiency were randomly divided into observation group and control group with 60 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with Yishen Jiangu Pill,and the control group was given glucosamine sulfate. After 12 weeks,the clinical efficacy and safety of two groups were compared. Results The visual analogue scale（VAS） at activity,vas at rest,WOMAC,as well as pain,stiffness,joint function,Lysholm score of knee function and TCM symptom score of the observation group after the treatment were all better than that before the treatment,compared with the control group,the difference was statistically significant（P<0.01 or P<0.05）. According to WOMAC score which was taken as the evaluation standard of efficacy,the total effective rate was 89.93% in the observation group and 75.00% in the control group,with statistical significance between the two groups（P<0.05）. Conclusion Yishen Jiangu Pill can reduce pain and stiffness of knee osteoarthritis patients with liver and kidney deficiency and improve the joint function with safety.
