ZHANG Zhenyu's experience in treating menstrual migraine with neck-abdomen synchronous regulation
Menstrual migraine is a common clinical disorder, which causes significant distress to young and middle-aged women due to its prolonged pain, high recurrence rate, and association with emotional disorders. Professor ZHANG Zhenyu, based on the theory of myofascial pain, believes that
yangqi
deficiency is the key factor in the onset of menstrual migraine. Insufficient
yangqi
and lack of nourishment to the meridians and tendons lead to muscle stiffness in the head, neck, and abdomen, resulting in blocked trigger points. The inability of
yangqi
to nourish
the spirit gives rise to abnormal emotional manifestations such as anxiety and depression. Treatment should focus on warming and activating
yangqi
, while coordinating the treatment of both the neck and abdomen. The meridians of foot
taiyang
, foot
shaoyang
, and hand
sanyang
on the neck are selected to warm and activate the upper
yangqi
, while the conception vessel and the spleen and stomach meridians are regulated to adjust the internal organs and guide
yang
from
yin
. By locating sensitive points along the three
yang
and three
yin
meridians, and using
tuina
techniques to release muscle tension, the head and abdomen pain are alleviated, achieving both symptomatic relief and a holistic therapeutic effect.
