Experience of differentiation and treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome based on "deficiency, phlegm, and stasis"
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common female endocrine and metabolic disorder in clinical practice, classified in traditional Chinese medicine under categories such as "late menstruation", and"infertility". Director TONG Qing, an inheritor of Professor CHAI Songyan, a national TCM master, has devoted herself to the clinical and basic research of PCOS. She proposed that the root cause of PCOS lies in kidney deficiency, with spleen-kidney insufficiency being common, often accompanied by phlegm-dampness, blood stasis, and impaired circulation. Based on this understanding, she has developed relatively complete treatment methods with distinct medication characteristics: simultaneous treatment of the spleen and kidney, tonifying the kidney and strengthening the spleen to address the root cause; "removing its outer coat" to eliminate pathogenic factors, regulating the triple energizer, resolving phlegm-dampness, and unblocking water channels and blood vessels; using light and effective medications with gentle regulation; emphasizing meridian tropism and skillfully utilizing light floral herbs. Through TCM regulation, patients can restore spontaneous ovulation and achieve favorable clinical outcomes.
