Comparative in vitro antibacterial effects of Qingre Chushi Decoction and Chushi Zhiyang Decoction in patients with eczema complicated by bacterial infection
(CSZYD) in patients with eczema complicated by bacterial infections.
Methods
2
Pathogenic bacteria were isolated from skin lesion secretions of eczema patients with bacterial infections at the Dermatology Department of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Capital Medical University, from July 2023 to June 2024. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of QRCSD and CSZYD against the ten most frequently isolated pathogens were determined using the broth microdilution method. Based on these results, individual herbal components were further tested for their MICs.
Results
2
Among 412 pathogenic strains in patients with eczema complicated by bacterial infections,
Staphylococcus
species were the most prevalent (
S.aureus
39.81%,
S.epidermidis
29.85%). Broth microdi
lution assays showed that QRCSD exhibited broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against
Staphylococcus
spp
., with the lowest MIC observed for
S. capitis
(15.625 mg/mL). The MICs for
S. aureus
(including MRSA),
S. epidermidis
(including MRSE), and
S. hominis
were 31.25 mg/mL, while
S. haemolyticus
and
S. warneri
had MICs of 62.5 mg/mL. In contrast, CSZYD inhibited only
S. capitis
(MIC=62.5 mg/mL) and
S. haemolyticus
(MIC=125 mg/mL). Among individual herbs in QRCSD,
Scutellariae Radix
showed MICs
<
3.906 mg/mL against all tested
Staphylococcus
species.
Conclusion
2
QRCSD demonstrates stronger
in vitro
antibacterial activity than CSZYD in eczema patients with bacterial infections, with
