ZHANG Shengsheng's experience in treating chronic atrophic gastritis and precancerous lesions of gastric cancer by using ternary combinations of herbal drugs based on the "regulating states and resolving masses"
Ternary combination of herbal drugs is a special form of herbal combination guided by traditional Chinese medicine theory and based on syndrome differentiation and treatment. It involves the appropriate combination of three Chinese herbs, which may mutually enhance or counteract each other, with the purpose of reducing toxicity and enhancing efficacy. Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) and precancerous lesions of gastric cancer (PLGC) are common and challenging digestive diseases with a risk of progression to gastric cancer. Professor ZHANG Shengsheng has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of CAG and PLGC. He summarizes the pathogenesis of these conditions as "deficiency, turbidity, stagnation, stasis, toxin, and masses", and proposes the therapeutic method of "regulating states and resolving masses". Based on this method, he applies ternary combinations of herbal drugs rationally and accurately, achieving effective clinical outcomes in most cases.
