Differentiation and treatment of chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia based on "harmony between water and earth" by ZHENG Qin'an
Chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia (CIT) is the most common hematological toxicity after chemotherapy. It significantly affects the long-term survival benefit of patients and is an adverse reaction that should not be ignored during tumor treatment. The concept of "harmony between water and earth" represents the core of academic thought of ZHENG Qin'an. He emphasized that spleen-earth and kidney-water are fundamental to life, and that harmony between them reflects the normal function of the spleen and kidney. When the spleen and kidney function in coordination and water and earth interact harmoniously, the transformation and generation of blood become inexhaustible. However, chemotherapeutic drug toxicity directly damages the spleen and kidney, and disharmony between water and earth results in insufficiency of t
he source of blood production. Therefore, the key to CIT treatment lies in strengthening healthy
qi
and reinforcing the spleen, warming the kidney and supporting
yang qi
, so as to restore harmony between water and earth
