ObjectiveTo explore the effect of "meridian flow" theory applied into Chinese medicine wax therapy on anxiety and depression in knee osteoarthritis patients. Methods A total of 66 patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomly divided into experimental group(n= 33)and control group(n=33).The experimental group was treated with time-selected Chinese medicine wax therapy based on meridian flow, while the control group was treated with conventional time traditional Chinese medicine wax therapy, both once a day, seven times as a course of treatment, and four courses of treatment together.VAS score,SAS score and SDS score were used to evaluate the pain of knee joints and psychological state in both two groups. Results The intra-group comparison showed that there were significant differences in VAS score,SAS score and SDS score between the two groups at 4 weeks of intervention and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The comparison between the two groups showed that the scores of VAS,SAS and SDS in the experimental group were more lowered than those in the control group(P<0.05)at 4 weeks after intervention, and there was significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion The effect of meridian flow selective Chinese herbal wax therapy can effectively relieve pain and improve patients’ psychological state, which is better than that of conventional time Chinese herbal wax therapy.
