Anosmia is a common disease in Department of Otolaryngology. It belongs to the categories of "rhinitis"， nasal obstruction or "no smell of nose" in Chinese medicine， and it can seriously affect the quality of life and mental health of patients. In addition， western medicine still lacks effective therapies to treat olfactory disorders， while traditional Chinese medicine has more advantages on it. Professor LIU Da-xin found in the clinic that although olfactory disorders are manifested in the nose， they are closely related to the lung， heart， liver and spleen. The nose is the cleansing path， dominates the sense of smell， belongs to the lung system. The heart governs the five odors. The spleen governs the uprising of clearness， and the clearing of the yang out of the upper orifice. Therefore， the nose opens into the lung， is nourished by the spleen， and utilized by the heart. The liver controls and regulates the Qi movement. In case of absence of smelling， the treatment is from the lung， heart， liver and spleen， so it has achieved good clinical effects.
