To evaluate the clinical application and safety of combination of seaweed and licorice.

A retrospective analysis was conducted on the medical records selected from outpatient and inpatient departments of Guangwai Hospital， Xicheng District of Beijing and China-Japan Friendship Hospital from January 1， 2017 to January 31， 2023 involving the presciptions using seaweed and licorice. The specific medication situation and the physical condition of patients before and after medication were analyzed.

There were 145 patients with a total of 367 prescriptions that included seaweed and licorice used in compatibility， among which， 179 prescriptions （48.78%） were applied in a mass ratio of 1∶1，the longest duration of continuous use was 707 days.Retrospectively reviewing the test indicators of the 145 patients from one month before to one month after using the combination revealed no adverse reactions related to the pairing of the two drugs.

When the combination of seaweed and licorice were used clinically， differential diagnosis should be strictly made and the dosage and ratio be considered and the safety monitoring be strenghened.
