衰老是神经退行性疾病发生的危险因素,线粒体功能障碍、氧化应激、慢性炎症及血管老化等参与了神经系统衰老的过程,最终诱发神经退行性疾病。中医学认为脑衰老的过程始终伴随“虚”和“损”的病理状态,“虚”即脏腑功能的减退,气血、阴精、阳气不足所致大脑功能低下状态;“损”则是在虚的基础上,产生的有形病理产物对大脑的功能及结构造成进一步的消耗与损伤。虚为损之因,损为虚之渐,由此形成恶性循环,加速衰老进程。
Aging is a risk factor for neurodegenerative diseases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, chronic inflammation, and vascular aging contribute to the aging process of the nervous system, ultimately inducing neurodegenerative diseases. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) holds that brain aging is always accompanied by pathological processes of "deficiency" and "loss". "Deficiency" refers to the decline of visceral functions with aging, resulting in decreased brain function due to insufficiency of
qi
, blood,
yin
essence, and
yang qi
. "Loss" refers to the further consumption and damage to
brain function and structure caused by the production of tangible pathological products based on deficiency. Deficiency is the cause of loss, and loss is the gradual progression of deficiency. This vicious cycle accelerates the aging process and leads to various diseases.
