Functional constipation is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder. In women, who are fundamentally based on blood, functional constipation is closely related to blood deficiency. Blood deficiency and intestinal dryness are the main pathogenesis, accompanied by
qi
stagnation, blood stasis, and deficiency-induced fire as pathological factors. Treatment should focus on nourishing blood and moistening the intestines, tonifying the spleen and kidney, and regulating the menstrual cycle to promote bowel movements.
